Threading Taps

threading taps

Threading taps produce helical grooves in a hole in order to insert a fastener. Unified Screw Thread Standard (ANSI B1.1) is an integrated system of threads for fastening purposes in mechanical and structural parts. Our taps comply with all standards and specifications and are produced from high-quality steels and carbide to meet the needs of manufacturers. A variety of styles from general purpose threading taps to highly sophisticated material specific designs are readily available. Because there are many applications requiring unique pitch and diameter combinations Regal offers 24-hour shipment of thousands of combinations if they can be manufactured to standard ANSI semi-finished blanks.’

With over 60 years of experience in manufacturing metal cutting tools and one of the largest selections of threading taps anywhere, you are sure to find the exact cutting tool you need. Hand Taps
A complete range of machine screw, fractional and metric sizes is available with taper, plug or bottom chamfer.
Spiral Point Taps
Spiral point taps are frequently called “gun taps” because they shoot the chips cut by the angular cutting edge forward.
High Performance Taps
The development of more difficult to use machine materials found in a variety of applications has spawned a need for taps made from higher grades of particle metal and carbide.
Carbide Taps
Extremely hard micro-grain carbide taps withstand abrasion and heat and are efficient tapping cast and powdered metal parts as well as aluminum alloys and cast iron.
Pipe Taps
Straight and taper pipe taps are used to thread parts which conduct fluids or air through pipe or fittings.
Spiral Flute Taps
Spiral flute taps are designed to lift chips out of a threaded hole while allowing adequate coolant to get to the cutting action.
Met-Flo Forming Taps
When chip removal is a problem often Met-Flo forming taps can provide a solution. No chips are cut but the metal is pushed or formed.
Large Diameter Taps
These taps over one inch in diameter are used both to tap new holes and clean rough or rusty threads.
Screw Thread Insert (STI) Taps
These are taps that will produce a larger than nominal size threaded hole to accommodate a helical screw thread insert.
Extension Taps
Regal Cutting Tools stocks  4”, 6”, 8”, 10” and 12” extension taps, both large and small shank up to 1 ¼” diameter.
Spiral Point Extension Taps
Spiral point taps are free cutting and push chips forward.
